Captain Martin has been with the fire department since 2013 and is a 2010 Northwest graduate. Captain Martin has taken numerous courses in leadership, accountability, instructing, health and safety, risk management, officer development, and technical services. In 2020, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a Concentration in Allied Health from Kent State University.

Over the last three years, Captain Martin has functioned as a SAFER Grant Coordinator to ensure recruitment and retention goals. This position leads the marketing campaign, meets with prospective applicants, provides recruits with the proper hiring process and training, and ensures their needs are being met.
