Fire Explorer/Summer Student Intern

If you’re a student in high school, college, trade school, or other qualifying educational institution, the CFFD Internship Program is for you! This program offers opportunities to shadow as a Junior Firefighter for the Canal Fulton Fire Department while completing your education.

Eligibility

Requirements

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Complete the American Heart Association BLS-Basic Life Support Certification
  • Sign and maintain a participant agreement through BSA Exploring Post 1854
  • Maintain good academic standing (cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher)

Here's How to Apply

  2. We will send you an application to complete as soon as possible
  3. Complete and submit the application in person or electronically
  4. Participate in an interview with our Recruitment Coordinator and Officers
  5. We’ll verify all elements of you meeting our eligibility requirements
  6. You will receive a letter of conditional and contractual commitment, unless declined

Upon Acceptance

  1. You’ll need to satisfactorily complete a NFPA 1582 Physical Assessment and a Drug Screening
  2. You’ll be sworn in by Mayor and approved by City Council
  3. Complete new firefighter orientation
  4. Start probationary period and free training
